The Carl Häßner collection is a tribute to the Zeha founder and his passion for football. Each of these men's models is based on one of the original Zeha football boot designs from the 1950s. These high-quality leather shoes have an unmistakable vintage look with the flair of the old GDR Zeha football boots. Their padded insole offers comfortable wearing comfort for everyday life. The retro leather sneakers are designed in Berlin and handmade in Portugal with high-quality leather from Europe.

Material & Care

Zeha Berlin shoes are made of high quality material. So that you can enjoy your new shoes for a long time, care instructions are included in every shoe box. Please read these carefully. Complaints arising from improper care of the material cannot be accepted.

BEFORE FIRST WEARING

We recommend waterproofing new shoes before wearing them for the first time. This creates a waterproof layer inside the material. This offers protection against moisture and dirt.

Apply three fine sprays, allowing the shoes to dry thoroughly in between to prevent stains. The shoe must not be allowed to get wet.

When caring for them, don’t forget the soles and edges.

For smooth leather shoes, we recommend applying additional cream after waterproofing. The shoe polish ensures protection and shine of the leather from the outside.

Please note:

  • Cream residue that remains on the shoe quickly crusts over. This makes the leather look as if it has broken.
  • Shoes made of suede or nubuck leather do not tolerate waxes, fats or shoe polishes. The surfaces must be treated when they are dry with a soft brush and a suitable care spray.
  • Color-intensive and light models in particular (e.g. Liga 855.0992) require careful and regular impregnation of the leather to protect the color. This is to avoid moisture-related color loss and discoloration on light-colored leather parts and/or clothing. Detailed care instructions are included with every delivery.

PUT ON AND TAKE OFF SHOES CORRECTLY

A shoehorn should always be used to put on shoes. This prevents damage to the material and thereby extends its durability.

Shoes should be taken off by hand. When taking off your shoes, never remove the toe from the heel. This damages the back of the shoe and causes the shoe to wear out.

BREAKS AND MOISTURE

Leather is a natural material that is exposed to damp weather and mechanical activity.

We therefore recommend shoe trees made of cedar or beech wood during breaks. Shoe trees smooth out creases and help shoes dry.

Wet shoes should be dried immediately with a soft cloth and stuffed with paper towels/newspaper. Moisture is absorbed and the shoes are kept in shape. Then let it dry slowly at room temperature.

Never expose the shoes to a direct heat source (heater, fireplace, etc.). Heat makes the leather brittle and dries it out beyond repair.

Also protect the shoes from direct light to avoid color loss.

CARE OF THE LEATHER SOLES

The sole leather is naturally abrasion resistant. When worn, it automatically compacts and becomes water-repellent. But no other leather on the shoe is subjected to as much stress as the sole leather. In order to protect the soles permanently, the leather soles should be impregnated with leather sole oil at regular intervals. This keeps the leather soles flexible and increases their lifespan.

Any thread ends that protrude due to production are harmless and can be carefully removed using a flame (lighter).

REPAIRS

Shoes are subject to the natural wear and tear of everyday life. Regular and thorough care can delay repair work. The need for repairs is also identified earlier through proper care. Worn heels, outsoles, sole tips or heel linings should be replaced early to protect the surrounding material. We recommend seeking out a professional who is familiar with the repair requirements. The work of professionals is more consistent and of better quality.
